The economic growth model of development is characterized by the use of modern technology, the factory system of production and rapid industrialization and urbanization. The western countries initially followed this model of development and prescribed it for the less develop ones. The consequences of adoption of the Western model of development by the less developed countries were not all positive. It is realized that the reckless pursuit of industrialization and the use of resource exploitative modern technology for development have resulted in environmental deterioration to such an extent that the very existence of all the living species is endangered.
The environmental degradation that has occurred is marked by large-scale extraction finite natural resources. Loss of forests, extinction of the Ozone layer, air, water, and soil pollution etc have posed a serious threat to the very survival of life on this planet. Human beings need both ‘development’ and ‘environment’. Of course development is important but that does not mean that we should deteriorate our environment for development. That’s why we should find the way in which both the environment and development are maintained. I am talking about the sustainable development. “Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
Due to the pressures generated by growing social needs, societies are using modern technologies for extracting and utilizing natural resources, which are limited. If we continue to exploit existing limited natural resources, future generations will not be able to meet their own needs.
Thus the concept of “sustainable development” is based on an integrated view of development and environment. In short it implies that (i) we should direct our efforts towards redressing the damage already done to the environment by earlier unsustainable patterns of economic growth (ii) we should follow such a pattern of development which avoids further damage to the planet’s ecosystem and ensures meeting of the needs of present as well as future human generations.

Population is aging in most countries today though the implications of aging are more serious for developing countries like India where there are problems of earning from assets in old age, where credit and insurance markets are poorly developed and where there is no tradition of extra familial welfare institutions. With a growing trend towards nuclear family setup and the associated decay of the extended family structure, the vulnerability of the aging population is increasing.

As we say old age is the last stage of the life. In this stage they want some peace and security. The old age people face many problems both inside and outside the home. Old people are the backbone of the family. As old people think their children are their old age security. They aspect their children to take care of them but their children having modern cultural values are more or less nuclear family oriented where as the older people carry their old cultural values. They can’t able to adjust with their children. This often creates the intra-family conflict. The children are most concerned about their next generation and think the older people are the burden in the ways of their progress.

In the present socio-economic culture, money becomes the important factor. Everyone is running after money. It even becomes more important than life and relationship. The dominance of economy in society gradually makes people greedy and selfish. As we can notice that the children always aim to inherit the property of the older persons and they give importance to them till the property is inherited.

The old age people face many health problems. They generally become sick, cannot function any work properly as they loose their sense of capacity. But in the very fast life of the modern society, we have no time to help them. They face difficulties in everywhere such as bus, train, standing in a queue etc. With problems increasing for older people, old age suicide rate is also increasing. Now the old age problem becomes the national issue. It is true that our government has started many schemes to help them. We must change our mentality and way of thinking towards them.

Going through the preamles of constitution of India we have read several times starting from schooldays the following:

“WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC ..... ... and to secure to all its citizens:

JUSTICE, social, economic and political;

LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;

EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;

and to promote among them all

FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;

IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY
ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.”

Well that was good phrase to remember to secure good marks in school. Also we all know how important it is for a nation like us. But how much practically we and our politicians follow it. If we follow then how can a poor bramhin boy begs in the streets near a school and rich Quota benificiary boy enjoy the school days inside the same school?

It is the government or you or the politician can say the the word Secular in our constitution but we do not follow practically. Our country has become diversity in unity instead of unity in diversity. We have to remove the quota sytems, the state feelings, the regional feelings at least from our minds. Otherwise our illiterate politicians will always try to crush us by diversity in unity.

No more people from Bihar or UP or Assam or Maharastra should be tourchered for their statehood in other states. There should be one religion “INDIAN” and one common international language “English” and one common national language “Hindi” for our INDIA to develop.

I have put this beautiful net stolen photo here as it is matching my patriotic outburst....

Jai Bharat... Jai Matribhumi..
